According to our experience, music therapy can be recommended e.g. in the treatment of neuropsychiatric syndromes and developmental disabilities. Therapy supports emotional control and self-expression. It also seems to strengthen interaction skills.
For people with developmental disabilities, playing and producing music is the best way to organize a world that otherwise seems chaotic. Playing makes it easy to structure the world and also understand the cause-and-effect relationships of what you do.
Musical expression works at the level of non-verbal language and promotes different communication channels, especially in those cases where expressive functions have proven to be challenging, such as for example in children diagnosed with childhood autism.
